About seven years ago my wife and I were on vacation in Carmel-by-the-Sea. While no one can argue that it's one of the most beautiful places in the United States it's also one of the most expensive when it comes to real estate. At the time my wife and I owned several long term rental properties in New Jersey so while in Carmel-by-the-Sea my wife got the brilliant idea that we should buy a property 3009 miles from home. Well I did what any good husband would do, I said sure that sounds like a great idea, while in my head was thinking there is no way we are buying a house so far away that I would need a plane ticket to unclog a toilet.
We popped our heads into about five or six local real estate office in town and everyone just smiled and told us we couldn't afford a home in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Then we walked into one last office and were met at the door by Melanie Rolfe Rosen. She listened to what my wife wanted and gave us instructions to drive out towards Carmel Valley Village and have a look around. She took our information and while we didn't look at any homes at that time, as it would happen I was back in Carmel-by-the-Sea just two weeks later.
After we returned home Melanie started sending us listings, sometimes several a day. Now keep in mind my only goal was to ride this out long enough for my wife to lose interest in buying a home so far way. But the listings keep coming, I would look at my phone, see the house and delete the email. About ten days after we got back a listing showed up on my phone while we were visiting our daughter at college right before her graduation. I looked at my phone, turned to my daughter who was sitting next to me and said, "I think we just bought a house in California." Two days later I was back in her office and asking, what now?
She drove me around and showed me five or six houses that she thought were also options but I only was interested in the house on my phone. The house was about two miles outside Carmel Valley Village and up a narrow road that lead to a narrower road and then to a steeper road with more than a pothole or two. She was just waiting for me to say, "Never mind, let's go back" but I never did. I walked through the house and fell in love because she had listened to us and found us the home of our dreams and the only house that could convince me that once again my wife as right.
From that point on Melanie did everything since I was back in New Jersey. She met the inspectors and when she got a bad vibe from an electrical inspector she called another one and had a second inspection done. She put us in touch with mortgage companies, insurance companies, cable companies, etc., she did what needed to be done and then some. I mentioned that we owned property in New Jersey so I have had the opportunity to work with many REALTORS® over the years and I'm her to say, Melanie Rosen is the finest, most dedicated, most honest, most knowledgeable real estate professional I have ever encountered. We have even become friends and can laugh and joke about so many things that we have in common.

When you need to buy or sell a home, don't walk, run to see Melanie. If she can't help you, then you can't be helped.

Listen to her, take her advice and everything will be just fine. For a variety of reasons, seven years later we have decided to sell what is now known as GoldSky Lodge and I knew all I had to do was call Melanie and she would take care of the rest, I did and she has.
